Mrs.Mansouri participates in the 1291st meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union

Representing the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, participated Thursday via videoconference in a meeting of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), dedicated to developments in Libya.

Representing the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, participated via videoconference in the 1291st meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, at the level of Heads of State and Government, dedicated to examining developments in the situation in Libya.
This meeting saw the participation of the presidents of Uganda, the Republic of Congo and the Libyan Presidential Council, foreign ministers from a number of PSC member countries, the chairperson of the AU Commission, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
In her address, the Secretary of State reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering position and support for the brotherly Libyan people as they face challenges in building a united state based on the rule of law and justice, while highlighting Algeria’s ongoing support for African Union efforts and UNSMIL initiatives to achieve a peaceful and comprehensive resolution to the crisis.

Mansouri also reiterated Algeria’s categorical rejection of all forms of violence in Libya, emphasizing that “the expected settlement can only be achieved through an inter-Libyan solution based on unifying national political will, inclusive dialogue and genuine reconciliation, free from foreign interference and external pressure.
