Massacres in Ghaza: The SC approves the draft press statement proposed by Algeria

NEW YORK (UN) - The members of the Security Council (SC) unanimously approved, Saturday evening, a draft press statement proposed by Algeria after the horrible massacre committed by the occupying army in the city of Ghaza against Palestinian civilians who were waiting for humanitarian aid.
In a press statement on the recent deadly incident in the city of Ghaza, issued Saturday evening, members of the Security Council expressed "deep concern at reports of more than 100 deaths and hundreds of injuries, including people injured by bullets, as confirmed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, in an incident involving Israeli forces during a large gathering surrounding a humanitarian aid convoy in the southwest of the city of Ghaza.
The members of the Security Council urged the Zionist entity to "keep the border crossings open to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza", to "facilitate the opening of additional crossing points to meet the humanitarian needs at large scale" and to "support the rapid and safe delivery of relief items to the population throughout the Gaza Strip".
They also underlined "the need to take all necessary measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure", insisting on the imperative respect for international law, international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
The Security Council also called for refraining from depriving the civilian population in the Gaza Strip of basic services and humanitarian assistance essential to their survival, expressing its "deep concern about the assessment of the Integrated Response Framework Food Security Classification (IPC) report that Ghaza's 2.2 million people face alarming levels of acute food insecurity.
This statement comes against a backdrop of escalating barbaric Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians throughout the Gaza Strip, which is on the 148th day of incessant bombing, killings, starvation and siege.
This is the second proposal adopted by the Security Council at the initiative of Algeria, in the last two months, concerning the situation in Gaza.
On January 30, the Security Council published "information to the press emphasizing the urgent need to expand the flow of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza."
